Troubleshooting: Are there minutes in your plan? Make sure your plan includes calling minutes. If your plan does not include any minutes, it will be impossible to use your phone to make and receive calls. You can adjust your plan any time to add minutes for local or long distance calls. This change to your plan will take effect at the start of your next payment cycle. You can also add minutes to your plan and use them immediately by buying a Call or Travel Add-On. Once your plan includes minutes or you purchase an Add-on, you'll be able to make and receive calls. Restart your phone Reboot (power cycle) your device by holding down the device’s start button for 10 seconds. After your applications load, your device will re-authenticate to the Fizz mobile network. This allows your device to recover its authorization to access the network. Reset Network Settings Rest assured, this operation does not delete personal data stored on your device. Follow the steps corresponding to your type of mobile phone. How do I configure my device on the Wi-Fi network?
Make sure that the Wi-Fi feature on your device is activated Your device may have a software and / or physical Wi-Fi switch. The location of the software switch may vary from one device to another. Here are two examples: Computer: Network and internet settings → Wi-Fi Smartphone: Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi Placement of the hardware switch can vary from one device to another. Here are two examples: An on/off button on the front or side of your laptop A combination of keys, for example: Function and F2 Select your Wi-Fi network The default username and corresponding password for your Wi-Fi network are written on a sticker on the back of your Wi-Fi modem (Default Wi-Fi network and Default key). I’m travelling outside my coverage area. What are my options?
Making and receiving calls outside Canada and the United States is now available in select countries through our Voice Add-ons. Text messaging and data usage remain accessible. You can choose to get a block of voice or data known as a Travel Add-on. You can also change your plan's coverage if you're travelling in Canada or the United States. But you know what? Wi-Fi always remains your best friend 😊. Remember to activate the roaming option of your phone, or else it'll block your usage. How much will it cost. To see the rates for the place you’re heading to, sign into your account and go under My plans > Manage plan > Travel . Enter your destination. The site will show the prices for the available Travel Add-ons. Since Fizz is a prepaid service, there are no surprise fees. You are limited by the amount of data and/or SMS in your travel Add-on. Choosing a Travel Add-On. A Travel Add-on is basically a block of data at a fixed price that allows you to use your Fizz service while travelling outside your coverage area (roaming). Once purchased, you can use it immediately, and it will remain available until the end of your next payment cycle. To buy a Travel Add-on, sign into your account and go under My plans > Manage plan > Travel . Enter your destination and choose the one that suits you. Your Travel Add-on will be activated as soon as you pay for it. Should you run out, all you’ll have to do is hunt down a Wi-Fi network so you can access your account and get another one. Your phone shuts down by itself or reboots in a loop
Make sure the power button doesn’t remain pressed If your phone’s power button remains pressed, it could shut down your phone, or be the reason it reboots in a loop. The issue could be caused by a protective case (or any other equipment of that nature) that applies pressure on the button without your knowledge. Charge your battery completely When the phone cannot store enough charge, it could reboot in a loop or shut down. Check that this is not an issue with a damaged electric cable. Test with another cable to make sure. You can also test the charge by removing the power supply block, and connecting the USB end (Type A) into a compatible device. Check that the cable works well by trying to charge another phone if you have one. Restore your phone to its factory settings IMPORTANT: Save all media, contacts, apps and text messages that are archived and want to keep before proceeding. Some of your phone’s parameters will need to be reconfigured after: mobile data blocking, NPA, Wi-Fi settings, Bluetooth function etc. The steps to follow to reset your network settings will vary depending on the type of phone. I can’t make any calls on my phone. Why?
Important: the 3G Network is retiring. Since July 31, 2025, the 3G network withdrawal has begun. If you are experiencing difficulties making or receiving calls, this could be related to the VoLTE compatibility of your equipment. To understand this transition and check the compatibility of your phone and SIM card, please consult our FAQ on the importance of VoLTE . Before starting the troubleshooting steps, here are a few points to consider : If you’re having difficulty receiving phone calls (but can make calls) see: My phone isn’t receiving any calls. How do I update my payment method or credit card information?
Adding a credit card or updating your payment method is easily done via your account. If your credit card is about to expire, you’ll receive a notification from us in your account, as well as a text or email based on your communication preferences. You must add a new credit card before removing the one currently associated to your plan(s). Any change to your payment methods must be made in accordance with the plan change policy detailed on https://fizz.ca/en/plan-change-policy to be considered in time for the next payment. In summary, a freeze period is in effect 72 hours (3 days) before the end of your payment cycle, during which time no changes can be made to your payment method or plan. Once a payment method has been added or modified in your account, don’t forget to associate it with each plan you wish to pay with this card. The association is not done automatically. To add a payment method. To remove the credit card currently associated with your plan, you must first add a new credit card. Log into your account. Under My settings > Payment methods, click on Add a new payment method. IMPORTANT When you enter your payment method information, the billing address associated with your card must be 100% identical and correspond to the address you declared to your bank for that card. The service you subscribe to, however, can be at a different address than the one on the credit card used. What to do if my visual voicemail doesn't work?
Does your plan contain Visual Messaging and Data? Your plan must include the Visual voicemail option, as well as data. Your phone must also be properly configured. How to add the Visual voicemail option and/or data to my mobile plan How to configure my phone for Visual voicemail Restart your phone Reboot (power cycle) your phone by holding down the phone’s start button for 10 seconds. Following your reboot, your applications will load. Your phone will then re-authenticate to the Fizz mobile network and potentially recover its authorization to access the network. Android members Make sure your APN is properly configured For visual messaging to work properly, the APN of the Android device must be configured properly. How to configure the APN of your Android device Did you grant the requested authorizations? During the installation of the app, authorization requests were presented to you. If you did not grant the required permissions, Visual voicemail won’t work properly. You must download the app again and go through the activation steps once more so that this time you grant permission. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app? Completely uninstall the application from your phone and reinstall it. Be careful not to just remove the icon from the home screen. You really need to uninstall and remove the app from your phone. iPhone members Is your version of iOS up to date? 1. Install the latest software update. Connect to a Wi-Fi network Download the latest iOS software update 2. Update the carrier settings. Once the software update is done, your iPhone will offer a carrier settings update. The mobile network is weak or inaccessible in some locations. Why?
Is the coverage adequate? Make sure you are in a zone that has adequate coverage. See our network coverage map The Fizz mobile network, like the vast majority of mobile service providers in Canada, is broadcast from fixed antennas on the ground. It’s normal that the signal will be affected in some places by natural and artificial obstacles. Artificial obstacles may include: Concrete Steel Aluminum Natural obstacles may include: Mountains Valleys Forests Restart your phone If the network signal is weak, your phone may be connected to an antenna that is not in an optimal location for you to access the network. Reboot (power cycle) your phone by holding down the phone’s start button for 10 seconds. Following your reboot, your applications will load. Your phone will then re-authenticate to the Fizz mobile network and potentially recover its authorization to access the network. Is the Fizz network chosen? Make sure your phone is configured to automatically select the Fizz mobile network. IMPORTANT: Before starting this process, make sure the SIM card is inserted in your device. Otherwise, the Mobile networks menu will not be visible. The steps for enabling your device to automatically select a network varies depending on the type of phone. How can I recover my Wi-Fi password?
With the Fizz Wi-Fi app and another device If you used the Fizz Wi-Fi app with another device, you’ll be able to share your password from that device. Take this other device, and open the Fizz Wi-Fi app. On top of the screen, click on Share Wi-Fi. From there, you’ll have several choices to share your Wi-Fi network. With your mobile If you have a mobile phone connected to your Wi-Fi network, follow these instructions : Make sure you're connected to your Wi-Fi Network. Open Settings Click on Connexion (or Wi-Fi on iOS) Click on Wi-Fi Click on the gear wheel icon located on the right of your network's name (or on the i on iOS) Click on the eye to unveil your Wi-Fi network password (or on Password on iOS) With a computer If you have a computer connected to your Wi-Fi network, follow these instructions Make sure you're connected to your Wi-Fi Network. Open the list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select Network and Internet Settings. Click on Network and Sharing Center. Select the Internet connection named as your Wi-Fi network.
