How can I change the SIM associated with my mobile plan?

The SIM card (subscriber identification module) is a chip with information that identifies you and connects your phone to the Fizz mobile network. It can be a physical SIM card or an eSIM (if your phone is compatible of course). If you are looking to activate a SIM card for a new plan, and not an existing plan that is already active in your account, head this way > https://fizz.ca/en/faq/activate If you lose or break your SIM, your mobile plan will no longer work. And since your SIM is associated with your plan, it’s important to follow the right steps to replace it. Same goes if you lose your phone. You must change your SIM and associate a new one with your mobile plan. Good to know: You can switch from a physical SIM card to an eSIM, or from an eSIM to a physical SIM card. Important: Once your new SIM is activated, the old one that is currently associated with your plan will be automatically deactivated. How to replace a Fizz SIM If your Fizz SIM card needs to be changed due to the removal of 3G for a VoLTE-compatible card, it will be free. 1) Sign in to your account The steps to follow automatically succeed one another in your Fizz account. Some calls when in the U.S. do not work. Why?

If you are travelling to the United States, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the ability to make calls will depend on the network your phone connects to at your location. If only the LTE network is available, the ability to make calls will depend on two things: a VoLTE compatible SIM card and a phone that is certified VoLTE with Fizz. I am on location. How do I know which network I’m on? Check the top of your phone screen. If you see: 3G or HSPA or H+ or E or EDGE There is a network other than the LTE network. You can use your phone to make calls provided, of course, you have Canada + US coverage on your mobile plan, or funds in your Fizz wallet to pay per use. No service The LTE network is the only option where you’re at and your phone is not LTE capable. You will not be able to make calls. LTE Your phone connects to the LTE network but must be VoLTE certified with Fizz to make calls using VoLTE technology. What do I need to check to use VoLTE technology? If you wish to make calls and the LTE network is the only option where you are, VoLTE technology comes into play. You must check: A. Your SIM card. A VoLTE compatible SIM card is required. This SIM card displays a red lightning bolt icon. If that’s not your case, Fizz will give you one for free. How to make the transition to VoLTE B. Your phone. Your phone must be VoLTE certified with Fizz, updated with the latest software update and its VoLTE function activated. I’m travelling outside my coverage area. What are my options?

Please note that making and receiving calls outside Canada and the United States is currently unavailable. However, text messaging and data usage remain accessible. You can choose to get a block of data known as a Travel Add-on or you can even change your plan’s coverage if you’re travelling in Canada or the United States. But you know what? Wi-Fi always remains your best friend 😊 . Remember to activate the roaming option of your phone, or else it'll block your usage. How much will it cost. To see the rates for the place you’re heading to, sign into your account and go under My plans > Manage plan > Travel . Enter your destination. The site will show the prices for the available Travel Add-ons. Since Fizz is a prepaid service, there are no surprise fees. You are limited by the amount of data and/or SMS in your travel add-on. Choosing a Travel Add-On. As of now, only Travel Add-ons for data are available, except for Canada and the United States where Add-ons for calls and texts are also available. A Travel Add-on is basically a block of data at a fixed price that allows you to use your Fizz service while travelling outside your coverage area (roaming). Once purchased, you can use it immediately, and it will remain available until the end of your next payment cycle. To buy a Travel Add-on, sign into your account and go under My plans > Manage plan > Travel . Enter your destination and choose the one that suits you. Your Travel Add-on will be activated as soon as you pay for it. Should you run out, all you’ll have to do is hunt down a Wi-Fi network so you can access your account and get another one.
