How do I activate my SIM card and create my mobile plan?
Activating my SIM First thing first, do you have a Fizz SIM? If your phone is compatible with eSIMs, order, install and activate an eSIM all at the same time. See the steps for an eSIM If you don’t have a SIM card, getting one is really simple. - If you’re buying a phone on fizz.ca, you can add a free SIM card to your order. - If you plan to use your own phone, get a physical SIM card online, or from one of our partner store - If you still have an old VoLTE SIM card that was deactivated, you can use it. Now the activation If you chose to go with an eSIM, you’ll be able to activate it immediately after ordering it. See the details here. For a physical SIM card, there are two (2) ways to get to the SIM card activation page: Log into your Fizz account and go under Overview > Add a plan. There, you’ll have the opportunity to activate your SIM card. OR In the fizz.ca menu bar, click on Mobile/Activate my SIM or enter fizz.ca/activate directly into the address bar of your web browser. Once there, simply enter the activation code on your SIM card in the field provided. How do I manage my contacts?
What is my Contacts list? Your Contacts is a list you create that contains all the Fizz members with whom you want to stay in contact. It may contain your family, acquaintances and friends, colleagues, or people to whom you have gifted data. Manage my Contacts Where do I go to manage my Contacts? When you first join Fizz, your Contacts list will be empty — you need to create it by searching for Fizz members and adding them to your Contacts list. To view, add, remove and manage contacts: Go to My benefizz in your Fizz account. Select My crew > Manage my Fizz friends. We protect members’ privacy by showing only a contact’s first name and last initial. Add, remove or edit a contact How do I add, remove or edit a contact? You create your own contacts list by adding members from our list of all Fizz members. To add a contact: Go to My benefizz in your Fizz account. Select My crew > Manage my Fizz friends. Search for your contact’s email or phone number. If they’re a Fizz member, their first name and last initial will appear in the search results. We’ll ask you to assign a relationship to this contact. This is optional; assigning a relationship, such as friend or co-worker makes it easier to organize your contacts. Click Add. To remove a contact: Go to My benefizz in your Fizz account. Select My crew > Manage my Fizz friends. Search for the contact’s email or phone number to bring up their name. When their first name and last initial appear, click Remove this contact. How do I view my usage?
Login to your account any time to see how much data, minutes and text messages you have used during the current payment cycle for any plans that are on your account. View your current data usage and remaining data in your plan : Go to My Plans in your Fizz account. Scroll to see a usage summary for each Plan associated with your Account. Click on ' Usage' to see more informations To consult your complete usage history included in your monthly plan (Data, Calls, Text): You’d like to access your call history, but it’s not displayed in your Fizz account. This request may be related to: providing proof to your insurance company (auto, home, personal); a request from your employer; a legal inquiry (investigation, court case, lawyer request); a request to access your personal information. This includes data, calls, and texts. Go to My Plans in your Fizz account. Into 'Manage Plan' menu Click on ' Data usage report' You can view your usage of minutes, texts and data. What are the STIR/SHAKEN standards for mobile phones?
STIR/SHAKEN is a set of procedures aiming to verify caller identity. They are intended to help combat unwanted calls received by members of the public. STIR (Secure Telephone Identity Revisited) is an acronym for a set of standards that allow a telecommunications service provider to verify the legitimacy of a caller’s number when a call is made. SHAKEN (Signature-based Handling of Asserted Information using toKENs) is an acronym for a framework that allows different operators to deploy the STIR protocol to authenticate calls made and received on the IP network. Why it’s important The STIR/SHAKEN standards involve different ways to indicate whether the caller number displayed on compatible mobile devices is trustworthy. The CRTC has required all Canadian telecommunications service providers to implement these standards to combat caller identity spoofing. Good to know: Spoofing is a technique that alters the caller ID information displayed on your phone to hide the caller’s identity. This technique is based on the principle that we are more likely to respond when we receive a call that appears legitimate (such as a local phone number). Spoofing can be used for unethical reasons such as deceptive telemarketing or fraud. There are times, however, when changing the caller’s identity is acceptable. A doctor for instance, calling to discuss a patient’s lab results may want to display the hospital’s number rather than their personal number. Under what conditions can a number be verified? Because the standards are being rolled out and are not yet supported by all vendors, not all calls are verified.
