How do I protect my account from phishing, identity theft or other types of fraud?

Scam artists excel at giving their messages an official look, even going as far as reproducing the logos and web pages of respected companies. Their main objective is to obtain personal information for the purpose of stealing the identity of a user. There is no sure way to protect yourself from any type of fraud such as phishing or identity theft. The best solution involves taking precautions such as the ones listed here, Secure your passwords. Most people use the same password for all their applications and the same four- or five-number PIN for their bank accounts and credit cards. Since there are bots that can guess passwords, your identity could easily be stolen, as well as all the files on your computer if your password is too easy to guess.
