I’m travelling outside my coverage area. What are my options?
Making and receiving calls outside Canada and the United States is now available in select countries through our Voice A add-ons. Text messaging and data usage remain accessible. You can choose to get a block of data, called a Travel Add-on, or even change your plan’s coverage if you’re travelling outside your coverage zone (for example, if your plan is for Ontario only and you’re going to Quebec). Keep in mind: Province-only plans (Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British-Colombia) work only in that province. When you travel to another province, your minutes, texts, and data don’t apply. You’ll need a Travel Add-on or Wallet funds. Canada or Canada + USA plans already include usage across those areas — no add-on needed. And remember — Wi-Fi is always your best friend 😊. Make sure the roaming option on your phone is enabled, otherwise your usage will be blocked. How much will it cost. To see the rates for the place you’re heading to, sign into your account and go under My plans > Manage plan > Travel . Enter your destination. Why is VoLTE important?
The withdrawal of the 3G network will start July 31, 2025, for Fizz and several of its partners. All calls made with your Fizz mobile plan will then go through the LTE network thanks to VoLTE technology. Mobile members who are not VoLTE-compatible, due to their SIM or their phone, will eventually experience service degradation until they can no longer make or receive calls, including to 9-1-1. To maintain the quality of your mobile service, check your VoLTE compatibility as soon as possible: Use a VoLTE-compatible SIM card or an eSIM (if your phone allows it). Use a phone that is VoLTE-compatible at Fizz. Activate the VoLTE function on your phone. IMPORTANT: If any of these criteria is not met, none of your c alls (including 911 calls) will go through once the 3G network has been completely removed To learn more about the withdrawal of the 3G network in Canada, visit the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) website, and the Canadian Telecommunications Association website. What is VoLTE? VoLTE stands for Voice over LTE, which basically means a phone call will use the LTE network. The opportunity to use the LTE network for your calls means: Improved sound quality for your calls. Faster routing of your calls, meaning the delay for the phone to ring at the other end will be shorter. Reduced interruptions when you go from the Fizz network to a partner network. Do the test As 3G network withdrawal is gradual, your calls may work in some places, but not in others. The best way to find out if you're ready for 3G network withdrawal is to do the test. Dial #TEST (#8378) on your mobile phone from the locations where you usually make calls and listen to the voicemail. If you hear confirmation that your

Universal call blocking
Please note that starting November 4, 2019, the entire Canadian telecom industry will gradually implement universal call blocking in an attempt to prevent telephone fraud. As a member of this industry, Fizz will be activating this feature for all its mobile service members. Starting this November 4th, non-compliant numbers could therefore be blocked. What is universal call blocking? Universal call blocking is an automated feature, based on well-defined rules. The feature is designed to block calls that do not comply with international numbering plan standards to counter unwanted calls and telephone fraud. Why is Fizz implementing this feature? Actually, starting November 4, 2019, the entire Canadian telecom industry (which Fizz is a part of) will be gradually implementing universal call blocking to counter unwanted calls and support the fight against telephone fraud. As a mobile phone service subscriber, you get all kinds of calls. The majority of them are legitimate; they come from family or friends. Others come from automated systems; even though some are honest calls (automated appointment reminders, for instance), a large number of them are unwanted and might actually be fraud related. That’s why Fizz, as a member of the Canadian telecom industry, will be implementing this feature for its members. Do I need to pay for universal call blocking? No, you won’t incur any additional charges for this feature. It’ll be gradually implemented nationwide by the Canadian telecom industry members, starting November 4, 2019. How does this feature work? What kind of numbers will be blocked, and under which circumstances? Universal call blocking is designed to automatically block any call it receives that does not comply with international numbering plan standards, which states that a telephone number cannot have more than 15 digits. As for the North American plan, it stipulates that a North American number
