Which mobile plan am I allowed? The beauty of buying a phone with Fizz is that there are no restrictions on your Fizz mobile plan : You create the mobile plan you want, whether it’s big or small, to go with the phone you choose. You can change your plan as many times as you like. You are not stuck, and only pay for what you need each month. Did you know you can get a discount on your mobile plan for 24 months? As you shop for a phone, new or Preloved, look for the phones identified with a purple stamp to get a discount for your plan for 24 months. If you have lots of unused data on a given month for instance, that data will roll over to the following month. So you may choose to reduce the amount of data included in your plan (and therefore pay less for that month) to benefit from that rolled over data. New and Preloved phones Fizz offers a wide selection of phones to choose from, whether brand-new or Preloved. A new phone is, well, brand-new, and comes with the manufacturer’s warranty . Look up warranty details. A Preloved phone is not brand-new, but it’s a great alternative if you’re looking for a great phone but don’t want to pay full price. Before we get into the swing of things, know that based on the date you unsubscribe from your Home Internet plan: You have 15 days to return your Fizz Wi-Fi modem (and its power cable). Failure to do so means you will be automatically charged the modem replacement fee, as per your Services agreement. If you are charged this amount but do end up sending us back the modem, then no worries, you will be automatically refunded. Once your modem is returned, it will take (approximately) 4-6 weeks to receive, if applicable, your prorated refund for the monthly fee you paid based on the days left, if any, in your payment cycle. Pack the modem carefully Important: Make sure that nothing is taped on the modem, and its barcode is legible. Find a box that is not too big to make sure the modem is snug and not tossed around. A box of size 12 ¼ x 9 ¼ x 5 ¼ inches is ideal. The box must also be sufficiently sturdy, so the modem is well protected. Canada Post has guidelines on the best way to wrap a package for shipping . Have your return ID number handy Download, print or write down your return ID number. Canada Post will need this number to print your free return label. New to Fizz? The name of the network indicated on your phone will not initially say Fizz. Instead, you will see Fizz EXT. We are aware of this situation and are working to address it. Rest assured, your phone is not roaming, and you will not incur any charges. Simply restart your phone 72 hours (that’s 3 days) following the activation of your SIM card, and all will be in order. Access a partner network on mobile The expanded coverage zone is for our mobile clients who travel in specific regions not covered by the Fizz network. It is intended for occasional coverage, and applies to both Quebec and Canada. The majority of your usage (calls, texts and data) must be done on the Fizz network. We reserve the right to interrupt or block access to our network of partner providers if you use your mobile service primarily on their networks for 3 consecutive payment periods . Use our coverage map to check that you are using your phone in a zone covered by the Fizz network. Visit our network coverage map Recognize a partner network Our phones are programmed to prioritize the Fizz network. When your phone is outside the Fizz network, it will automatically connect to an available partner network. When you’re connected to a partner network, its name will be displayed on your phone as Fizz EXT. It is important to check the name of the network indicated on your phone. If it does not say Fizz, you are on one of our partner networks and your usage will be considered extended coverage. You can adjust your phone’s settings to limit this usage by deactivating roaming on our partner networks. Good to know: The Quebec coverage area also includes the Ottawa region. Start date Please note that a billing cycle does not necessarily follow calendar months. A cycle could be from the 21st to the 20th of each month, for example. For your mobile service: The date on which you activate your SIM card is the anniversary date for your mobile plan, and this date marks the start of your payment cycle each month. For your Home Internet service: You received your Fizz Wi-Fi modem by mail? Its activation date marks the beginning of your payment cycle. Don’t forget, Fizz will activate it remotely three (3) days after its delivery date, but you can activate it yourself in your account if you’re ready before then. Your modem was delivered by a technician? If you had an installation appointment with a technician, your modem will be activated then, and the date of your appointment therefore marks the beginning of your payment cycle. For your TV service: The payment cycle for your TV plan will be the same as the one for your Home Internet plan. But because your TV plan is activated as soon as you subscribe, you may need to pay a prorated amount on that day to bridge the gap until the next payment cycle of your Home Internet plan . Say you subscribe to Fizz TV on December 14 but your next payment cycle for your Home Internet plan only starts on December 30. The prorated amount you will pay on December 14 will therefore correspond to those 16 days. Come your next full payment cycle, December 30 in our example, the payments for both those plans will be combined, and the payment cycle for your TV plan will be synchronized to the payment cycle of your Home Internet plan. Starter Kit The box contains the following items: The Wi-Fi modem (CODA-4680 or CODA-5610Q based on your plan) A coaxial cable A power cord An ethernet cable The ethernet cable is included in the box with your modem, but it is not required to set up your Wi-Fi network. Connect the coaxial cable The coaxial cable must be properly screwed in on both ends. Connect the power cord The power cord must be properly connected to the Wi-Fi modem and wall outlet (avoid using a power strip). IMPORTANT: Once it’s plugged in, your Wi-Fi modem will make its first system update, and may need to reboot after roughly 15 minutes. Make sure your modem is ready A series of lights will appear on your modem. Make sure they match this image. Write down your modem’s info Locate the network name (Default Wi-Fi Network) and password (Default Key) printed on the back of your Wi-Fi modem: CODA-4680 model: look at the back. CODA-5610Q model: look under. Make sure not to confuse similar characters such as O and 0, as well as I and 1. Before proceeding to the next step, check the available networks on a Wi-Fi-enabled device like a mobile phone and check that the FIZZ network name as indicated on your modem appears in the list of available networks. This may take a few minutes. Configure your modem Select the name of your Wi-Fi network from the list of networks available to your Wi-Fi enabled device and enter the password. Your Web browser will open*. You will be redirected to the "Easy Connect" interface. Follow the on-screen steps. *You may need to open your Web browser manually. Voicemail allows people to leave you a message if your phone is off, the line is busy, or there is no answer after four rings (20 seconds). You can listen to your messages at any time from your mobile phone or an analogue phone. Voicemail includes Visual messaging. Visual voicemail is like a power-boosted voicemail. Sign in to your account and go to My Plans > Manage plan > Change plan and add voicemail. This change will come into effect at the beginning of your next payment cycle as per the plan change policy. Good to know: To use your voicemail, your plan must include minutes. If not, you won’t be able to use it or access it, whether from your mobile phone or any other phone. Accessing your voicemail Hold the ''1'' key on your phone for a few seconds. Good to know: - This shortcut to your voicemail that is the “1” key is actually a call forward to the messaging centre configured for most phone models. This feature may vary from one model to another and may not be modifiable in all phones. - If you are forwarding your calls to another number, your voicemail won’t pick up incoming calls and no one will be able to leave you a message. To manually access your voicemail, dial 1-514-647-0999.
