How do I set up and use my voicemail?

Voicemail allows people to leave you a message if your phone is off, the line is busy, or there is no answer after four rings (20 seconds). You can listen to your messages at any time from your mobile phone or an analogue phone.

Voicemail includes Visual messaging.

Visual voicemail is like a power-boosted voicemail. You can listen to and manage your messages without having to "call" your voicemail. Available for IOS and Android phones.

  1. Adding voicemail

Voicemail is an option you must add to your plan. Sign in to your account and go to My Plans > Manage plan > Change plan and add voicemail.

This change will come into effect at the beginning of your next payment cycle as per the plan change policy.

Good to know: To use your voicemail, your plan must include minutes. If not, you won’t be able to use it or access it, whether from your mobile phone or any other phone.

  1. Accessing your voicemail

Hold the ''1'' key on your phone for a few seconds.

    Good to know:
    - This shortcut to your voicemail that is the “1” key is actually a call forward to the messaging centre configured for most phone models. This feature may vary from one model to another and may not be modifiable in all phones.

    - If you are forwarding your calls to another number, your voicemail won’t pick up incoming calls and no one will be able to leave you a message.

To manually access your voicemail, dial 1-514-647-0999.

  1. The PIN (customize, reset or deactivate)

Reminder: Once the voicemail option is added to your plan, it’ll be activated come the following payment cycle.

As soon as your voicemail is activated, you’ll receive an access code (PIN) by text. Use this PIN to access your voicemail the first time and personalize it afterwards for security reasons.

To customize or reset your PIN:

Follow the instructions in your voicemail or do it from your Fizz account under My Plans > Manage My Plan > Advanced Parameters > PIN to Access Your Voicemail.

Important: Unsafe combinations such as 1234 or 8888 will be rejected.

During the 108-hour (4.5-day) freeze period before the end of your payment cycle, no changes can be made to your PIN. You will have to wait until the next payment cycle.

Good to know: If you have a pending plan change, you won't be able to change your PIN until your new plan is active.

    You forgot your PIN:

You can modify it from your Fizz account under My Plans > Manage My Plan > Advanced Parameters > PIN to Access Your Voicemail.

    To deactivate your PIN:

The PINskip option allows you to access your messages directly without having to enter your PIN. However, you will be asked for your PIN if you wish to manually access your voicemail (by dialing 1-514-647-0999).  To use the PINskip option:

    • Access your voicemail from your mobile phone.

    • Press 4 - Set up voicemail.

    • Press 1 - Manage PIN authentification.

    • Listen to the warning message.

    • Press 1 - Activate/deactivate the PINskip option.

By default, incoming calls will be redirected to your voicemail after 20 seconds without a response. You can adjust this timeframe, however, by dialling the following combination in your phone:

    *61*+15146470999*11*number_of_seconds#

    • Special characters are required in this command (asterisk, hashtag, etc.).

    • The number of seconds you choose must be a multiple of 5, and be between 5 and 30 seconds.

  1. The storage capacity

Your voicemail has a 35-message maximum capacity. Once this capacity has been reached, people who are trying to reach you won’t be able to leave you a message. You’ll receive a text message every time someone tries to leave you a message. You’ll have to delete messages to make room for new ones.

    Good to know:
    - A message that is not listened to, or is listened to but not saved, will be kept for 30 days (calculated from the date it was received). After those 30 days, the message will be automatically deleted.

    - A saved message will be available for 30 days (calculated from the moment it is saved). After that, it’ll be automatically deleted.
