How do I prepare my phone for a return?
The steps to prepare your phone for a return are crucial to protect your privacy, but also to allow the technicians to easily access your phone to inspect it. If we can’t access your phone to inspect it, you will be charged the administrative fee of $75 (plus applicable taxes), and your phone will then be returned to you. Download and install the latest software update For any warranty claim, the first mandatory step is to download and install the latest software update of the operating system. Check your phone afterwards. The download might actually resolve your issue. The process of updating your phone’s software can vary from one phone model to another. Here are two examples: Android: Settings → Software update → Manually download updates iPhone: Settings → General → Software update Save your personal data Save your personal data (pics, videos, texts, contacts, etc.) on an external source. You won’t be able to retrieve them afterwards. Fizz does not save your personal data, and offers no guarantee in this respect. You can download the content of your phone via iCloud, your Google account, your Samsung account or other. Check the procedure directly on the site of these platforms. This process may vary, depending on the type of phone. Some calls when in the U.S. do not work. Why?
If you are travelling to the United States, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the ability to make calls will depend on the network your phone connects to at your location. If only the LTE-4G network is available, the ability to make calls will depend on two things: a VoLTE compatible SIM card and a phone that is certified VoLTE with Fizz. I am on location. How do I know which network I’m on? Check the top of your phone screen. If you see: 3G or HSPA or H+ or E or EDGE There is a network other than the LTE-4G network. You can use your phone to make calls provided, of course, you have Canada + US coverage on your mobile plan, or funds in your Fizz wallet to pay per use. No service The LTE-4G network is the only option where you’re at and your phone is not LTE capable. You will not be able to make calls. LTE Your phone connects to the LTE-4G network but must be VoLTE certified with Fizz to make calls using VoLTE technology. What do I need to check to use VoLTE technology? If you wish to make calls and the LTE-4G network is the only option where you are, VoLTE technology comes into play. You must check: A. Your SIM card. A VoLTE compatible SIM card is required. Why do I need a SIM card?

If your phone is not compatible with eSIMs or if you prefer having a physical SIM card, it’s all good as well. Your SIM card is what identifies you and connects your phone (whether you buy one on fizz.ca or bring your own) to the mighty fine Fizz mobile network. A VoLTE compatible SIM card is therefore required. This SIM card shows a red lightning bolt icon. A Fizz VoLTE SIM card: has no expiry date or limited lifetime; can be activated at any time; can be reused if the initial plan with which it was associated has been cancelled. How do I change my plan?
You can change your plan directly in your account on Fizz.ca. Changes will go live come your next payment cycle. For example, if your cycle renews on the 12th of each month and you change your plan on July 13, the change will take effect starting August 12. You will benefit from your new plan starting on that date. Freeze period This period starts 72 hours (3 days) before the end of your payment cycle. For internet and mobile During the freeze period, only one change request is allowed, as long as none has already been made in your cycle. Before this period, you can request plan changes as often as you like. If your payment has already been processed, the amount will be refunded and the new plan will be billed in full. The refund will be issued automatically when the new plan comes into effect. If your payment has not yet gone through, it will be canceled and your new plan will be billed in full. For TV You cannot change your plan during the freeze period. Plan ahead! How to know if you’re in your freeze period? Go to your account > My plans. Just below your monthly price, you’ll see the number of days left in your payment cycle. When unsubscribing from a plan, the freeze period does not apply. You can proceed at any time. Referral credits are automatically applied only to recurring monthly payments associated with your plan. They do not apply to one-time charges, such as the fees generated when a plan change is made during the freeze period. What is an unlocked phone?
An unlocked phone is one that is not linked to any specific cellular network. For example, when you buy your phone from a mobile provider, you will only be able to use it with that carrier until you unlock it. Legislation now allows all Canadians to unlock their phones, regardless of the original carrier. Unlocking your phone means you are able to use it with any carrier, provided that your phone is compatible with its network and bands. If you bought your phone from a Canadian provider after December 1, 2017, it is unlocked by default. When your phone is unlocked, you can insert a SIM card from any mobile provider to use your phone on their network. How can I see if my phone is locked Insert your Fizz SIM card (activated or not activated) into your phone. When your card is inserted: Your phone is unlocked if it connects to the network or asks you for a PIN code to unlock the SIM card. Your phone is locked if it asks you for a SIM unlock code. Follow the instructions below to unlock it How to unlock my phone Because Fizz is not the company that locked your phone, we cannot unlock it. Only the provider who sold you your phone can unlock it for you. Make sure you have your phone’s IMEI and insert your Fizz SIM card in your phone. Issues with the battery or charge of your phone
