An unlocked phone is one that is not linked to any specific cellular network. For example, when you buy your phone from a mobile provider, you will only be able to use it with that carrier until you unlock it. Legislation now allows all Canadians to unlock their phones, regardless of the original carrier. Unlocking your phone means you are able to use it with any carrier, provided that your phone is compatible with its network and bands. If you bought your phone from a Canadian provider after December 1, 2017, it is unlocked by default. When your phone is unlocked, you can insert a SIM card from any mobile provider to use your phone on their network. How can I see if my phone is locked Insert your Fizz SIM card (activated or not activated) into your phone. When your card is inserted: Your phone is unlocked if it connects to the network or asks you for a PIN code to unlock the SIM card. Your phone is locked if it asks you for a SIM unlock code. Why buy a phone at Fizz ?
Which mobile plan am I allowed? The beauty of buying a phone with Fizz is that there are no restrictions on your Fizz mobile plan : You create the mobile plan you want, whether it’s big or small, to go with the phone you choose. You can change your plan as many times as you like. You are not stuck, and only pay for what you need each month. Did you know you can get a discount on your mobile plan for 24 months? As you shop for a phone, new or Preloved, look for the phones identified with a purple stamp to get a discount for your plan for 24 months. If you have lots of unused data on a given month for instance, that data will roll over to the following month. So you may choose to reduce the amount of data included in your plan (and therefore pay less for that month) to benefit from that rolled over data. New and Preloved phones Fizz offers a wide range of phones, new or refurbished, from smart models to flip phones. A new phone is, well, brand-new, and comes with the manufacturer’s warranty . Look up warranty details. A Preloved phone is not brand-new, but it’s a great alternative if you’re looking for a great phone but don’t want to pay full price. FAQ
What are the Fizz network settings (APN)?
An Access Point Name (APN) has the network settings your phone needs to connect to Fizz. The APN must be properly configured so your phone can be “introduced” to the Fizz network. Once your APN is configured, you’ll have access to your mobile data and multimedia messaging (MMS). Even with a poorly configured APN, you’ll be able to make and receive calls and texts. You will also have internet access when connected to a Wi-Fi network. Removing the SIM card from a phone with properly configured network settings (APN) could automatically reset the previous settings. If this happens, you’ll need to reconfigure the Fizz network settings. Installing network settings (Android) By inserting your SIM card in your phone, you’ll receive two notifications to configure the network settings. Install these two configurations. If a PIN code is required, enter 1234. Wait three minutes and completely restart (power cycle) your phone. Resend the network parameters (APN) to your phone (Android) Log into your Fizz account and follow this path: My plans → Manage plan → Advanced parameters → Fizz network parameters → Resend me the notifications You’ll receive two (2) notifications directly on your phone: one to configure mobile data and the other to configure multimedia messaging (MMS). Install these two (2) configurations. If a PIN code is required, enter 1234. If you inserted your SIM card into a device unknown to the Fizz mobile network, chances are you received a SMS inviting you to follow the above instructions. Manually installing network settings (Android) Steps to follow for configuring the APN can vary from one phone to another. Here's an example: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Access Point Names → APN Fizz APN settings are: APN: mobile.bm MMSC: http://mms.mobile.bm MMS proxy: mmsproxy.mobile.bm MMS port: 80 APN type: default, mms, supl If your
