STIR/SHAKEN is a set of procedures aiming to verify caller identity. They are intended to help combat unwanted calls received by members of the public. STIR (Secure Telephone Identity Revisited) is an acronym for a set of standards that allow a telecommunications service provider to verify the legitimacy of a caller’s number when a call is made. SHAKEN (Signature-based Handling of Asserted Information using toKENs) is an acronym for a framework that allows different operators to deploy the STIR protocol to authenticate calls made and received on the IP network. Why it’s important The STIR/SHAKEN standards involve different ways to indicate whether the caller number displayed on compatible mobile devices is trustworthy. The CRTC has required all Canadian telecommunications service providers to implement these standards to combat caller identity spoofing. Good to know: Spoofing is a technique that alters the caller ID information displayed on your phone to hide the caller’s identity. This technique is based on the principle that we are more likely to respond when we receive a call that appears legitimate (such as a local phone number). Spoofing can be used for unethical reasons such as deceptive telemarketing or fraud. There are times, however, when changing the caller’s identity is acceptable. A doctor for instance, calling to discuss a patient’s lab results may want to display the hospital’s number rather than their personal number. Under what conditions can a number be verified? Because the standards are being rolled out and are not yet supported by all vendors, not all calls are verified. When are referral bonuses awarded? When your friend subscribes to Fizz using your referral code, both of your referral bonuses will be pending until your invited friend becomes a paying member. Same goes if you're the one who was invited: your bonus (and that of the Fizz member who invited you) will be pending. When the invited person completes their third monthly payment, they will receive their referral bonus. From there, the referral bonus of the Fizz member who made the invitation will be applied on their next payment. If you have multiple plans, your referral bonuses will be applied on the payment for your default main plan (the oldest plan in your account). You can change your settings under your profile to choose another plan. Once that change is done, any future referral bonus will be assigned to that other chosen plan. The usual amount for the referral bonus is $25, for both the Fizz member and the person they invite, but this amount can vary based on the activation date. You are notified every time a referred friend subscribes, activates their account and makes their second payment. Disable the Wi-Fi feature of the Fizz Wi-Fi modem In bridge mode, the two (2) Wi-Fi radios built into your Fizz Wi-Fi modem will be deactivated, thus disabling its Wi-Fi capabilities. Open an Internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Identify yourself using the following login information: Username: cusadmin Password: **enter your Wi-Fi password** Select Basic Select Gateway Disable the option ''Residential Gateway function'' Click Ok Install your personal Wi-Fi router Connect your personal router as indicated in its user guide. Plug the network cable (RJ45) into one of the four (4) numbered ports of your Fizz Wi-Fi modem. If there's any issue with the connection, restart both devices (the Fizz Wi-Fi modem and your personal router). If you want to re-enable the Wi-Fi capability of your Fizz Wi-Fi modem, you'll need to reset it to its factory settings. Using a small, sharp object, press the modem’s reset button for 10 seconds. • CODA-4680 model: the reset button is located behind the Wi-Fi modem. • CODA-5610Q model: the reset button is located under the Wi-Fi modem. If needed, restart both your modem and personal router This quick video will guide you through each step. But in a nutshell: Unplug the power cable on your Wi-Fi modem. Make sure all the lights on the modem turn off. Wait ten (10) seconds. Plug your modem back into the electrical outlet. Expect a three (3) minute delay to allow your devices to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network. Note: If you are also using a personal router, you'll need to restart it as well. Recommendation: It is more effective to restart your Wi-Fi modem by unplugging its power cable instead of pressing its power button.

The SIM card (subscriber identification module) is a chip with information that identifies you and connects your phone to the Fizz mobile network. If you lose or break your SIM, your mobile plan will no longer work. And since your SIM is associated with your plan, it’s important to follow the right steps to replace it. Same goes if you lose your phone. You must change your SIM and associate a new one with your mobile plan. Important: Once your new SIM is activated, the old one that is currently associated with your plan will be automatically deactivated. Go under My plans > Manage plan > Change SIM card to start. From there, you can order a new SIM or go straight to the activation step if you already have one. From there, you can choose to block or pause access to some (or all) of them. You can also manage access to your Wi-Fi network by creating a Wi-Fi network for your guests, with its own schedule and password. The Fizz Wi-Fi app is available for free on: Google Play App Store Create your administrative password For this step, you'll need your Wi-Fi network password. If you can't remember it, you'll need to recover it. How to recover my Wi-Fi password To become the household’s Chief Wi-Fi Officer, you must first create your administrative password. Before you create your administrative password, manually disconnect all devices connected to the app to prevent them from retaining the administrative access. Open a web browser. Enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of the web browser. Log in using the following credentials: Username: cusadmin Password: (enter the password you chose for your Wi-Fi network when you initially configured your modem). Head into the following section: Administration > Manage Enter your Wi-Fi network password to confirm your identity. Then, choose and enter an administrative password that you’ll keep for yourself. Once these steps are completed, you’ll have: A password for your Wi-Fi network. This password hasn’t changed.
