  1. What type of equipment does Fizz use?

Fizz uses an all-in-one Wi-Fi modem that includes a Wi-Fi router. This device ensures an exceptional online experience by optimizing Wi-Fi services throughout your residence and on all your devices.

It is compatible with Wi-Fi 5 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards for Wi-Fi connectivity. It is not compatible, however, with Wi-Fi 6: 802.11ax.

The benefits of using a Fizz Wi-Fi modem include:

    • An all-in-one modem and router

    • Powerful dual band support

    • Secure wireless connectivity

    • An easy configuration interface

    • Works in conjunction with the Fizz Wi-Fi app so you can optimize your Wi-Fi network, as well as diagnose, if need be, any glitch that presents itself.

    Model CODA-4680:

    • Supports Wi-Fi 5 standards: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.

    • Can reach speeds of up to 3.5 Gbps.

    • Works with WPA2 security protocol.

    • Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz: 802.11n dual-band 3x3.

    • Wi-Fi 5 GHz: 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO 4x4.

    Model CODA 5610Q:

    • Available with a new subscription to the 940 Mbps plan only

    • Supports Wi-Fi 6 standards: 802.11ax.

    • Can reach speeds of up to 9.6 Gbps.

    • Works with WPA3, the latest Wi-Fi security protocol.

    • Wi-Fi: 802.11ax 4x4 on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

    • Allows better management of long-range connections, reducing signal loss, ideal for large spaces or those spanning 2+ floors.

    • Allows a larger number of devices (up to 100) to connect simultaneously, improving network efficiency and reducing congestion.

  1. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi band steering

Wi-Fi band steering is a technology used to deploy dual Wi-Fi bands that allow compatible devices to primarily use the more powerful and less problematic 5 GHz band.

With the band steering function, only one Wi-Fi network name will be displayed. Each compatible device will automatically connect to its optimal frequency (2.4GHz or 5 GHz) to make the user experience seamless.

Modifying this option is possible thanks to the Fizz Wi-Fi app:
    1. Choose ''My Wi-Fi''
    2. Go to the settings (gear wheel icon)
    3. Activate/Deactivate the Band steering option

The Fizz Wi-Fi app is available for free on:

The Fizz Wi-Fi app is available free of charge in the Apple Store and Google Play Store.

You can also adjust band steering using Fizz Wi-Fi modem user interface:

    1) Open a web browser on any device and navigate to: 192.168.0.1

    2) Connect using the following information:

    • Username: cusadmin
    • Password: xxxxxxxx (enter the new password you selected during initial configuration)

    3) Navigate to to the following section to make any changes:

    Wireless ->Advanced -> 2.4 Ghz or 5Ghz -> Band Steering (Disable)

You'll need your Wi-Fi network password. If you can't remember it, you'll need to recover it.

  1. Automatic Wi-Fi channel optimization

Both Wi-Fi frequency bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) offer a range of channels to optimize the quality of your Wi-Fi connection.

The Fizz Wi-Fi modem has an optimization feature, allowing it to automatically select the best channel for each connected device, based on the needs at that time.

The automatic Wi-Fi channel optimization  is enabled by default on all Fizz Wi-Fi modems to ensure state-of-the-art service.
