CONSULT THE USEFUL NUMBERS LIST Good to know Accessing the services attached to these numbers can vary depending on the region where you are when you place your call 411 services The 411 number is a service that allows you, at any time, to obtain the addresses and telephone numbers of individuals and businesses listed in the telephone directory. It also provides you with weather forecasts, movie schedules and driving directions. When you call 411, the information is sent to you by text message. For example, if you're looking for the contact details of a particular person, you'll receive them by text message. Good to know 411 is a useful number that can be reached wherever you are in North America. 911 services The 911 emergency number allows you to get help quickly in an emergency situation. A dispatcher will take your call and immediately contact the appropriate emergency services (police, ambulance, fire or other), depending on the nature of the emergency. I’m having problems transferring my current phone number to Fizz. Why? What can I do?
Note that a number transfer cannot be done on a line that is already active with Fizz. In other words, if you already have a Fizz plan, porting a number to this plan is not possible; you need to create a new plan. As outlined below, there are several possible reasons for this situation. You will receive an email, as well as an in-account notification explaining the glitch pertaining to your situation, and the next steps to address it. To check your in-account notifications, sign into your account and click on the bell icon next to your name. icon next to your name. Wrong IMEI or account number. Your phone IMEI or your account number with your current provider, whichever one you chose to use, is incorrect. Perhaps you mistyped it when entering it. Verify and try again. To find the IMEI, dial *#06# on the phone you are using with your current provider. If the IMEI number is more than 15 digits long, only use the first 15. If you’re using your account number, check your most recent bill from your current provider. See account number formats. The transfer authorization failed. When you activate your SIM (eSIM or physical SIM card) a nd request to transfer your number over to Fizz, your current provider sends the owner of the phone number (probably you) a text with a transfer authorization request. This is to confirm your wish to transfer the number over to Fizz. Failure to answer this authorization request by the set deadline, or if the request is denied, automatically cancels your request to transfer your number over to Fizz. How do I identify my account number to transfer my number to Fizz?
If you are following the process of transferring your current phone number to Fizz, the table below outlines the account number formats used by different providers. Your account number is on your bill or in the client account for your current provider. If you cannot find your account number, or if you are not unsure about which number to use, we advise you to submit your transfer request using the IMEI for the phone you are using with your current provider. To find your IMEI, dial *#06# on your phone’s keyboard. If the number is more than 15 digits long, enter only the first 15 digits. Install and activate an eSIM
The eSIM is only offered for the activation of a new mobile plan. The following features will be offered shortly (but are not for now): Changing a physical SIM associated with an existing Fizz mobile plan for an eSIM. Changing the eSIM associated with an existing Fizz mobile plan for another eSIM. Transfer an eSIM from one phone to another. A SIM is what identifies you and connects your phone (whether you buy one on fizz.ca or bring your own) to the Fizz mobile network. An eSIM is basically a virtual SIM card. Important: don’t delete your eSIM. Never delete an active or about to be activated eSIM, including the one from your previous provider if you are transferring your number to Fizz. If you get an error message after your eSIM is installed in your phone: The reason -> your phone is trying to connect to the Fizz network, but the transfer of your number hasn’t started. What you need to do -> go in your account under My plans > Manage my plan > Install my eSIM and click on the button to launch the transfer. Important -> Do NOT delete your eSIM. Why? The QR code that allowed you to install it is one-time use. If you delete your eSIM, you’ll be blocked and so will we. Good to know: To use an eSIM, your phone must be compatible. How do I get a new phone number?
Getting a new number for your mobile plan is easily done via your Fizz account. Your plan must be active of course, and you’ll have a one-time fee to pay, which will be clearly should you decide to proceed. You’ll have two options: 1. Choose a random number from the selection presented to you. 2. Find a number by entering the last four (4) digits of your choice. Important: the voice messages you saved when you were with your other provider will be lost and this even if you transfer your phone number over to Fizz. You can change your number whenever you want, and as many times as you like, but you have to keep it for a minimum of 30 days. Choose a random number To change your phone number to a random new number: Go to My Plans in your Fizz account. If there is more than one plan on your account, scroll to the plan you wish to change. Click on Manage and choose Change phone number. Here you will see your current phone number and two options: Select the first option: Get a new number (see on the image below). Choose a number from the list. (Click Get a new number list to refresh this list. Note that you can only refresh this list 5 times. When you refresh this list, you will not be able to go back to the previous list of numbers.) How do I choose my phone number?
Choosing your phone number is the third step in getting your mobile plan up and running. Once you have your Fizz SIM card, enter fizz.ca/activate directly into the address bar of your web browser. Once there, simply enter the activation code on your SIM card in the field provided. This step leads to the Plan Wizard, which enables you to configure your phone plan. After this is done, we may ask you to confirm your home address. Then you will choose your Fizz phone number. There are three ways to select or configure your phone number: Transfer your current phone number from your previous mobile provider. (Your number must be active to transfer from another provider.) Ask Fizz to give you a new number. Find a number by entering the last 4 digits. (This option has a one-time $1 fee.) Your phone area code is linked to the postal address associated with your account and it cannot be changed or modified. Make sure your address matches the area code you want.
