My phone is using an unusual or high amount of data. Why?
The amount of data your phone uses may vary depending on how you use it, which native installations are running on it, and which applications you have installed. Some applications, native or not, can use your mobile data in the background. For example, cloud-based apps such as Google Drive or Apple iCloud could be using your data to automatically backup your photos, videos, and documents. Some streaming music or video services can also download content in the background. Fizz provides you with handy tools to keep you informed about your mobile data usage: A usage metre (visible when you first sign in to your account) tells you how fast you are consuming your minutes and your data, compared to the amount available in your plan. Notifications at 75%, 90% and 100% of your usage. Note: You must log into your account and activate notifications at 75% and 90% usage. If you do not, you will only receive a notification when you are at 100% of your usage. You can also check your mobile data usage directly via your phone. The steps to follow to check your data usage can vary depending on the type of phone you have. Here are two examples: Android: Settings → Connections → Data usage → Mobile data usage iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular data usage Here are some examples of average usage: Type of service Bandwith Data Consumption YouTube UHD 4K: 6 to 10 Mbps 1080p: 4.5 Mbps 720p: 2.5 Mbps 480p: 2 Mbps UHD 4K: 2.7 to 4.5 GB/hour 1080p: 2 GB/hour 720p: 1.1 GB/hour 480p: 450 MB/hour Music streaming Audio quality: 320 Kbps Audio quality: 96 Kbps Audio quality 320 Kbps: 50 MB/hour Audio quality 96 Kbps: 44 MB/hour Video streaming (Other than YouTube) High video quality: 5 Mbps Medium video quality

Browsing the internet is very slow on my mobile phone. How do I fix it ?
Make sure you are in a zone that has adequate coverage. See our network coverage map If you are outside the Fizz network, you can connect via our partner network. Learn about accessing our partner network Signal bars and Wi-Fi: understanding your connection icons The mobile signal bars ? indicate the strength of your cellular network. The more bars you see, the stronger your signal. However, you can still have excellent reception even without the maximum number of bars. The number of signal bars is just a simplified indicator—each phone manufacturer interprets this measurement a little differently. For example, one phone might display three bars at –90 dBm, while another would show four for the same signal The Wi-Fi icon (represented by several overlapping arcs) shows the strength of your wireless Internet connection. Each arc is simply a visual estimate of the wireless signal strength your device receives. Once again, how these arcs appear depends on the manufacturer and operating system. In short: even if your device doesn’t show all the “waves” of the Wi-Fi symbol, you can still enjoy a stable and fast connection. These arcs are a convenient visual cue, but not an absolute measure of performance. Troubleshooting Is the Wi-Fi function turned off? Make sure you have deactivated WiFi on your phone. If browsing the internet with your phone is slow and laborious, your phone may be trying to prioritize browsing over a WiFi network instead of using the Fizz mobile network. By disabling WiFi on your phone, you will force it to use only mobile data; this may enable apps and web pages to load faster. If you are experiencing a slow WiFi network, see the following troubleshooting tip: My WiFi connection is slow. How can I speed it up? Restart your phone If the network

FAQ
Internet Traffic Management Policy
Any access of 100 Mbps or more is subject to the traffic management policy. Last update: MARCH 2023 Does Fizz apply Internet traffic management measures? Yes, Fizz applies traffic management measures, but only from the user to the Internet (upload), and fo r accesses of 100 Mbps or more (hereinafter called THE ACCESSES*). *Certain conditions (see below). Why does Fizz use Internet traffic management measures? Fizz wants to offer the best online experience to its members. Because the upload speed (from the user to the Internet) of the ACCESSES* is high, Fizz uses traffic management measures to prevent some modems from slowing down the overall service, even momentarily. What kind of traffic is targeted? Fizz does not target any particular type of traffic, nor any specific applications or protocols such as peer-to-peer file sharing. Only data uploads (from the user to the Internet) made with the ACCESSES * access are subject to traffic management. Download traffic (from the Internet to the user) is not managed. When and how does Fizz manage traffic on its network? Every 15 minutes, a system checks the traffic rate of each upstream channel (typically, one upstream channel serves a few dozen modems). If the traffic rate exceeds the threshold above which congestion occurs, the syste m identifies the modems which use these ACCESSES* in that channel that are uploading a large amount of data. The upload capacity of these modems is then given a low-priority rating. Based on the severity and time during which the congestion persists, the upload speed of these modems may then be slowed down. When the amount of data uploaded by the modems is diminished or the traffic on that channel reverts to a normal rate for which congestion is no longer an issue, the upload capacity prioritization will go back
FAQ
How can I change the SIM associated with my mobile plan?
The SIM card (subscriber identification module) is a chip with information that identifies you and connects your phone to the Fizz mobile network. It can be a physical SIM card or an eSIM (if your phone is compatible of course). If you are looking to activate a SIM card for a new plan, and not an existing plan that is already active in your account, head this way > https://fizz.ca/en/faq/activate If you lose or break your SIM, your mobile plan will no longer work. And since your SIM is associated with your plan, it’s important to follow the right steps to replace it. Same goes if you lose your phone. You must change your SIM and associate a new one with your mobile plan. Good to know: You can switch from a physical SIM card to an eSIM, or from an eSIM to a physical SIM card. Important: Once your new SIM is activated, the old one that is currently associated with your plan will be automatically deactivated. If you still have an old VoLTE SIM card that was deactivated, you can use it. How to replace a Fizz SIM If you need to replace your Fizz SIM card for a VoLTE SIM card, but haven’t received it in the mail yet, please contact us. One of our agents will confirm your address with you and can send you a new one, free of charge. You must go through an agent in order to get the SIM card free of charge. 1) Sign in to your account The steps to follow automatically succeed one another in your Fizz account. Go under My plans > Manage plan > Change my SIM . From there, you can choose the eSIM or order a physical SIM card. Having issues connecting to your account
