Putting your Internet plan on pause
Putting your Internet plan on pause is done directly in your Fizz account > My plans > Manage plan > Pause my plan.
Price per pause: $10 (plus applicable taxes)
Your Home Internet plan can be put on pause up to two (2) times every 12 months per calendar year, for a maximum of six (6) months each time. The first time you put on your plan on pause will therefore determine the dates of your 12-month period. Let's illustrate this with an example.
-
If you pause your plan on February 3, 2025, your plan must be reactivated no later than 6 months later, on or before August 3. You will then be left with one (1) pause available until February 2nd of the following year.
-
Keeping with that example, say you wish to schedule your second pause to start December 12, 2025. Because your 12 months end February 2nd, 2026, that second pause will end on that date even if its length will be less than 6 months. If you wish to keep your plan on pause beyond that date, you’ll need to submit a new pause to start February 3, 2026. You will then be left with one (1) pause until February 2nd, 2027.
Good to know:
You keep your Fizz Wi-Fi modem. You’ll need it when your plan is reactivated.
While your plan is on pause, you cannot submit a plan change or a move request. To do so, you’ll need to reactivate your plan first. Same goes if you want to unsubscribe. -
-
Pause dates
Start date:
Once you submit your request, your plan will be put on pause the following day, at 0:01. So if for example you submit your request April 15 at 3 p.m., the pause will start on April 16 at 0:01.
End date:
A pause can last a minimum of one (1) day and a maximum of six (6) months. Your plan will be automatically reactivated on the date you select. Know, however, that if you change your mind once the pause mode is activated, you can always change this date or reactivate your plan yourself directly in your Fizz account > My plans.
-
Reactivation
Your plan will be automatically reactivated on the date you had requested, and its price will be the same as when it was put on pause. You’ll receive a reminder by email two (2) days before its reactivation.
Changed your mind? No worries. You can change your reactivation date anytime or even reactivate your plan yourself instantly directly in your Fizz account > My plans.
Your Wi-Fi modem.
Because you kept your Fizz Wi-Fi modem, just make sure it’s plugged in properly on your plan’s reactivation day. You won’t even need to reconfigure anything.
Your payment cycle and your Services agreement.
When you put your plan on pause, you most likely had days left in your payment cycle. Those days are not lost. Your payment cycle will simply shift accordingly when your plan is reactivated, and you’ll get that info by email along with your new Services agreement to reflect this change. An example?
- Your payment cycle ends February 13, but you put your plan on pause February 3, meaning 10 days were left in your payment cycle.
- You reactivate your plan June 18. Your payment cycle will shift to the 28 of every month (June 18 + 10 days).

When putting your plan on pause is impossible
Pending plan change or move request.
Putting your plan on pause will be impossible if a plan change or move request is pending. You’ll have to wait for that request to be completed. Otherwise, cancelling your plan change or move request will allow you to put your plan on pause.
During the freeze period.
In accordance with the plan change policy, a freeze period is in effect 108 hours (4.5 days) before the end of your payment cycle. During that time, no changes can be made to your plan, and this includes putting it on pause. You’ll have to wait for your next payment cycle to start.
The number of pauses allowed has been reached.
If you've exhausted the number of breaks allowed per calendar year, the system will tell you with an error message. This error message will also indicate the date from which you can pause your plan again.
A TV plan is associated with your Internet plan.
Because a TV plan cannot be put on pause, you’ll have to unsubscribe from it before you can put your Internet plan on pause.
Your plan is suspended.
If the monthly payment for your Internet plan failed and your plan is suspended, you’ll need to make your payment first. You’ll be able to put your plan on pause once it has been reactivated.
