How does the Phone discount on a plan work?

Let’s illustrate with an example.  

• You buy a phone identified with a 24-month 15% discount for your plan. 

• You pay for your phone as usual, paying it upfront or spreading its cost with Affirm. 

• You pair your phone with your mobile plan regularly priced at say $20/month. Your plan comes out then to $17/month ($20 – 15% Phone discount) for 24 months.  

• After the 24-month period, your Phone discount ends and your plan goes back to its regular price of $20/month.  

No commitment and no minimum plan. 

Your Phone discount applies to your mobile plan, regardless of its value. And as always with Fizz, there’s no long-term commitment. The Phone discount will be applied to your mobile plan for 24 months, but you can choose to shorten this period. 

Several plans, several Phone discounts. 

For every mobile plan in your account, you can purchase a selected phone and take advantage of the Phone discount for that plan. In other words, the limit is one Phone discount per plan.  

Good to know: 
Transferring a discount is not possible. The discount remains associated with the plan that was selected when the phone was purchased.  

Discounts are not cumulative. If you’re already enjoying a discount with your plan, like a BETA price privilege, a Phone discount will replace it.

Your Phone discount will be automatically applied based on your situation. 

With an existing plan: 

If when you purchase your phone you choose to pair it with your existing mobile plan, your Phone discount will be automatically applied on that plan come your next payment cycle.  

With a new plan: 

If you created a new plan when you purchased your phone, your Phone discount will be applied on that plan when you activate your SIM card.  

Remember that you can change your plan at any time, directly in your account, and your Phone discount will apply to that new plan. The time remaining on your discount is shown in your account under My plans.

Your Phone discount follows you every month for the 24 months associated with it. You can therefore change your plan as often as you like, at any time, directly in your account. Your Phone discount will be applied to your new plan.  

Let’s take our example again. 

• You buy a phone identified with a 24-month 15% discount for your plan. 

• You pair your phone with your mobile plan regularly priced at say $20/month. Your plan comes out then to $17/month ($20 – 15% Phone discount) for 24 months. 

• After 3 months, you change your plan and choose a plan priced at $30/month. Your 15% Phone discount applies to this new plan, leaving you with only $25.50/month to pay for the remaining 21 months.  

• If you change your plan again during these 21 months, the percentage of your Phone discount will apply to your new plan.  

Good to know: you can see the time remaining for your Phone discount in your account under My plans. 

15-day return policy. 

The 15-day return policy applies to any phone purchased at Fizz.ca. If you return a phone that came with a Phone discount for your plan, this discount will be lost for good. 

Warranty claim. 

If your warranty claim for your phone purchased at Fizz.ca is accepted, a replacement phone will be sent to you. Your Phone discount for your plan won’t be impacted and you’ll keep enjoying it until the end of its 24-month period. 

Buying a new phone before the end of your Phone discount. 

• If the new phone you’re buying is not associated with a Phone discount, you keep your current Phone discount on your plan until the end of its 24 months. 
• If that new phone is associated with a Phone discount, that new discount will replace your current discount on your plan. Say for example there are 3 months left to your 10% Phone discount for your plan. You buy a new phone with a 15% Phone discount for your plan. That new 15% discount will put an end to the 10% one. You’ll start a new 24-month period with a Phone discount of 15% for your plan.  

By unsubscribing from your mobile plan, you lose your Phone discount for good, even if there were months remaining on the initial 24 months associated with your Phone discount.   

Good to know: it is not possible to transfer your discount.  The discount remains associated with the plan selected at the time of phone purchase. If you unsubscribe from your plan, you lose your discount.   

As for your phone, it’s yours so you keep it. And there's no penalty to pay.
