  1. Installing and configuring the app

    1) Download and install the Fizz Wi-Fi app

    2) To log in, use the same credentials as your Fizz account.

  1. Your devices

With the app, you can see and manage all the devices currently connected to your Wi-Fi network, as well as those that have been connected in the past.

When you select one of the currently connected devices, you can:

    • Change the name and type of the device.
    • Manage its access rights to the Wi-Fi network.
    • Create a bedtime schedule.
    • Block its access to the network instantly.

You also have access to all the connection details of that device. From signal reception levels to the Internet band it is connected to.

  1. My Wi-Fi section

At the bottom of the screen, the My Wi-Fi section allows you to manage your networks, not just the access of a specific device.

Activate and deactivate a guest Wi-Fi network.

This feature is ideal for avoiding sharing your primary Wi-Fi network's connection details with someone who only needs access temporarily.

Note: When not in use, it is best to leave the guest network disabled to prevent it from interfering with your primary Wi-Fi network.

    Configure your Wi-Fi networks.
    • Change the name of your Wi-Fi networks and their password.
    • Check which devices are connected to the network.
    • Easily activate and deactivate your Wi-Fi networks.

    > Band steering

This feature allows to split the frequencies of your Wi-Fi networks (2.4 GHz et 5.0 GHz).

With band steering ON, your modem connects each device to the optimal frequency.

With band steering OFF, each frequency will be displayed as a network:

    • The 2.4 GHz will keep the name of your network.
    • The 5 GHz will add 5.0 to that same name.

By default, the password will be the same for both.

Manually change the channels of the Wi-Fi networks

Although rare, it is sometimes possible that the channels automatically selected by your Fizz Wi-Fi modem are congested. Before pursuing this avenue, however, start by checking if you can optimize your signal.

  1. Speed test

With the app, you can easily perform speed tests.

The Fizz speed test is split into two parts:

    1. “Internet to modem”: this part allows you to check if the speed chosen for your plan is respected.

    1. “Modem to device”: this part allows you to know the speed of your Wi-Fi network inside your home. If your Wi-Fi signal is not optimized or slowed down by interferences for example, your cruising speed will suffer.

If your Wi-Fi network is suffering from slowdowns, several elements may be in play. Use the app to diagnose the issue and get help if required.

Fizz has a traffic management policy, but only from the user to the Internet (uploading), and for 120 and 200 Mbps accesses in order to avoid that some modems slow down, even momentarily, the service in general.

  1. Tools and support

Thanks to the app, you can fix network issues such as:

    • Slow speeds

    • Buffering video streams

    • Spotty Wi-Fi coverage

    • Devices dropping off the network

How to diagnose and start optimising:

    1. Open the Wi-Fi app on your mobile device.

    1. Tap Tools and support and select Network scan.

    1. Stand next to your modem and tap Start scan.

The app will guide you through the steps but if you need further assistance, you can reach us directly on the app. Just make sure the network scan is completed as this will help for quicker and easier troubleshooting.

  1. The three little dots...

Clicking on the three little dots when in the overview tab in the top right-hand corner will lead you to the following options:

    • Manage block devices
    • App version
    • App language
    • Reboot the modem
    • Restore factory default settings

Once your selection is done, simply follow the app’s on-screen instructions.
