An unlocked phone is one that is not linked to any specific cellular network. For example, when you buy your phone from a mobile provider, you will only be able to use it with that carrier until you unlock it. Legislation now allows all Canadians to unlock their phones, regardless of the original carrier. Unlocking your phone means you are able to use it with any carrier, provided that your phone is compatible with its network and bands. If you bought your phone from a Canadian provider after December 1, 2017, it is unlocked by default. When your phone is unlocked, you can insert a SIM card from any mobile provider to use your phone on their network. How can I see if my phone is locked Insert your Fizz SIM card (activated or not activated) into your phone. When your card is inserted: Your phone is unlocked if it connects to the network or asks you for a PIN code to unlock the SIM card. Your phone is locked if it asks you for a SIM unlock code. How do I subscribe to the T911 service?
The T911 service enables people who are living with an auditory or speech disability to communicate with the 911 emergency service using text messaging. Activate the T911 service in > My plans > Manage > Advanced parameters. If you have more than one plan on your account, the T911 service must be activated for each relevant plan. To use the T911 service you must: Have an active Fizz mobile account Have a phone compatible with the T911 service Activate the service in > My plans > Manage > Advanced parameters Reside where the T911 service is available It can take up to 5 business days to process your request for T911 service. If accepted, you will receive a text message confirming the activation of the service. If you have not received a text message after 5 working days, please notify us by chat or by using the Proof of disability form. Although the T911 service is currently available in only a limited number of regions in Canada, you can still sign up for it. What is my Wallet and how do I use it?
Good to know: Offers, services and prices are subject to change without notice and may differ by province. In the case of the Fizz Wallet, it is only offered in Quebec. Your Wallet is where you deposit and store money to cover Pay As You Go minutes, texts, minutes for international calls and roaming. Simply use your credit card to add funds to your wallet. The funds you deposit in your Wallet will not be spent unless: You decide to use them to Pay As You Go. Your plan only includes data. You will be able to use Pay As You Go make calls and send texts. You deplete your monthly plan and do not buy an Add-On. Funds in your Wallet will automatically be used to pay for calls and text. You cannot use the funds from your Wallet to pay for your monthly plan. Pay As You Go There are two key instances when Pay As You Go comes in handy: If you deplete your monthly plan before the end of your payment cycle, and you choose not to buy an Add-On to complete the month, your consumption will automatically switch to Pay As You Go. The mobile network is weak or inaccessible in some locations. Why?
Is the coverage adequate? Make sure you are in a zone that has adequate coverage. See our network coverage map The Fizz mobile network, like the vast majority of mobile service providers in Canada, is broadcast from fixed antennas on the ground. It’s normal that the signal will be affected in some places by natural and artificial obstacles. Artificial obstacles may include: Concrete Steel Aluminum Natural obstacles may include: Mountains Valleys Forests Restart your phone If the network signal is weak, your phone may be connected to an antenna that is not in an optimal location for you to access the network. Reboot (power cycle) your phone by holding down the phone’s start button for 10 seconds. Following your reboot, your applications will load. Your phone will then re-authenticate to the Fizz mobile network and potentially recover its authorization to access the network. Is the Fizz network chosen? Make sure your phone is configured to automatically select the Fizz mobile network. IMPORTANT: Before starting this process, make sure the SIM card is inserted in your device. Otherwise, the Mobile networks menu will not be visible. The steps for enabling your device to automatically select a network varies depending on the type of phone.
