What are the details of the Wi-Fi extender pilot project?
The pilot project involving the use of a Wi-Fi extender with one's residential Internet package for three (3) months is by invitation only. Selected Internet members have been contacted by email.
By replying YES to the invitation email, participants agree to receive the Wi-Fi extender and to complete the two (2) surveys that will be sent to them.
-
Implications
Fizz sends to participants an ARIA 2210 Wi-Fi extender valued at $100. Participants must install and use it for a period of three (3) months with their Fizz Home Internet plan. Once the pilot project is completed, participants keep the Wi-Fi extender.
In exchange, participants agree to provide feedback on their use of the Wi-Fi extender via two (2) email surveys.
Important:
-
Resale of the Wi-Fi extender is prohibited.
-
This pilot project and the comments received through the surveys remain confidential.
-
During the pilot project, Fizz cannot be held responsible for any breakage, failure or deterioration of service due to the use of this Wi-Fi extender.

How to install the extender
1
Download the updated version of the Fizz Wi-Fi app:
2
Open your Fizz Wi-Fi app.
-
On the main page, tap on “My network topology” or find the button at the top left of the screen and select My networks.
-
Then, select “Add an extender”.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the ARIA2210 to your existing Wi-Fi network.
-
-
The best location for your Wi-Fi extender
Because you want your extender to receive a strong signal from your Fizz Wi-Fi modem, things to consider include:
-
Make sure your Wi-Fi modem is in the main room of your home.
-
If your home has several floors, place your extender on the floor over/below your modem.
-
Make sure your extender connects to the 5G band. This means placing your extender only 1 or 2 rooms away from your modem.
How can you know if the place you chose is good?
Check the signal strength (RSSI) your extender is receiving. To do so, sign into the Fizz Wi-Fi app > Overview > menu at top left (3 lines) > My networks > Aria 2210 > See Wi-Fi signal strength.
If your RSSI is:
-
45dBm or stronger: Strong signal. You could move your extender even further without impacting performance.
-
46 – 55dBm: Good signal and excellent spot for your extender.
-
56 – 65dBm: Your extender is far from your modem. To optimize the speed when devices are connected to this extender, try connecting the extender directly into your modem using an Ethernet cable.
-
66dBm or weaker: Your extender is too far from your modem. If you wish to keep your extender in this location, connect it directly into your modem using an Ethernet cable to cover this area.

Troubleshooting
If your extender doesn’t seem to be working well, here are a few things you may want to try.
1. Reboot your Wi-Fi modem
-
Unplug the power cable on your Wi-Fi modem.
-
Make sure all the lights on the modem are off once you have unplugged it and wait ten (10) seconds.
-
Plug your modem back into the electrical outlet. Expect a three (3) minute delay to allow your devices to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
2. Reboot your Wi-Fi extender
-
Unplug your extender from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds.
-
Plug it back in and wait for a few minutes for it to reboot and synchronize with the Fizz Wi-Fi modem, and for your devices to reconnect. This may take up to 5 minutes.
3. Reset your extender
-
Press and hold the button on the back of the extender for 10 seconds. The light will change from white to flashing red, green and blue.
-
The relay will then restart. The light will flash green.
-
When the light turns flashing white, the extender is ready to be paired with your devices.
-
Reminder: The default username (Default Wi-Fi network) and password (Default key) for your Wi-Fi network are written on a sticker on the back of your Wi-Fi modem.
4. Reset your Wi-Fi modem to its factory settings
IMPORTANT: This will reset any changes that have been made to your Wi-Fi modem settings to date. You may also need to reconfigure your devices’ Wi-Fi settings (network name, password, etc.).
Locate the reset button at the back of the Wi-Fi modem and using a small, sharp object, press it for 10 seconds.
Once your modem has restarted, follow the same instructions you used when you initially installed it.
Reminder: The default username (Default Wi-Fi network) and password (Default key) for your Wi-Fi network are written on a sticker on the back of your Wi-Fi modem.
