How do I subscribe to Fizz TV BETA?

Fizz is currently in a BETA test period for its TV service in Quebec. As a result of this BETA test period, some of the TV services may be affected and/or limited.
See the BETA test period terms and conditions

  1. Requirements

Before you dive in and subscribe to our TV service, please note the following important requirements.

A Fizz Home Internet plan of 30 Mbps minimum.

Fizz TV is available to Fizz Home Internet members in the province of Québec. Fizz delivers television by IPTV which means your TV channels are delivered over your Internet connection. The speed you choose for your Home Internet plan will therefore have an impact on the rendering of your TV service. The minimum recommended is 30 Mbps.

    Subscribe to Fizz Home Internet

    A compatible device.

Once subscribed to Fizz TV, you must download the Fizz TV app on a compatible device to access and watch the channels you selected as part of your TV plan. As such, make sure to check the list of compatible devices beforehand.

Good to know: A maximum of one (1) TV plan per Fizz account is allowed.

Know that Fizz services unfortunately cannot be used for commercial purposes or in the operation of a business.

  1. Subscribing

Visit this section of our website for all the details on our TV service. You can subscribe there, or directly here, or directly in your account at Fizz.ca > My plans > Add a TV plan.

The on-screen steps are easy to follow, but there are a few things worth mentioning.

Your Fizz Home Internet plan must be active.

If the Home Internet plan associated with the address for which you are subscribing to Fizz TV is suspended or pending activation, the system won’t let you subscribe to Fizz TV. You’ll have to come back later once your Home Internet plan is live.

You select the channels you want, and your plan will adjust.

As you make your selection, your plan and its price will adjust automatically based on the number of channels you’re at. The smallest plan includes 5 channels. You can add one channel to get the 6-channel plan, one more to get the 7-channel plan and so on, all the way up to 10. Afterwards, you may add in increments of 5 channels to end up with the 15-channel or the 20-channel plan.

Good to know: All plans include the basic TV with 23 general-interest channels (the channels offered may vary per region). You may also choose to only subscribe to Basic TV.

Once your TV plan is set, you can choose optional channels as well. Such channels are each individually priced and cannot be included as part of a TV plan.

Your Home Internet and TV plans will be treated as one.

Your TV plan must use the same payment method as your Home Internet plan. If you add a new payment method as you subscribe to your TV plan, it will automatically update the one you currently have for your Fizz Home Internet plan.

It’s also important to note that the payment for your TV plan will be combined with the payment for your Home Internet plan, and therefore synchronized to the same payment cycle. You may therefore need to pay a prorated amount when you subscribe to your TV plan to bridge the gap until your next full payment cycle (See section 3 below).

Your TV plan is activated on the spot.

Once you are done subscribing, know that your TV plan is live instantly. You must at that point download the Fizz TV app on your compatible device and connect that device to your plan.

    How to connect a device

  1. How payments for TV work

Your TV plan payment will be combined with the payment for your Home Internet plan. This means both your plans will use the same payment method and will be synchronized to the same payment cycle.

    The same payment method.

Because your Home Internet and TV plans will be treated as one, any change to the payment method for one plan will update the payment method for the other.

How to change a payment method

Should a monthly payment fail, both your Home Internet and TV plans may get suspended.

What to do if a payment fails

The same payment, and payment cycle.

Because the payments of both your plans will be combining into one, your Home Internet and TV plans will be synched to the same payment cycle. As such, if you’re in the middle of your Home Internet payment cycle when you subscribe to your TV plan, you will pay a prorated amount to bridge the gap until your next payment cycle.

    • Say you subscribe to Fizz TV on December 14 but your next payment cycle for your Home Internet plan only starts on December 30. The prorated amount you will pay on December 14 will therefore correspond to those 16 days.

Come your next full payment cycle, December 30 in our example, the payment of your TV plan will be combined with the payment for your Home Internet plan.

Good to know: You can see all your account transactions under My settings > Transaction history

Another good thing to know: If you subscribe to your TV plan during the freeze period for your Home Internet plan, the amount you will have to pay will correspond to the days leading up to your first full month PLUS one full month.

    • Say you subscribe to Fizz TV on December 28, and your next payment cycle for your Home Internet plan starts on December 30, thus putting you right in the freeze period. The amount you will pay on December 28 for your TV plan will therefore correspond to 32 days – those 2 days plus the amount for the next full month.  Then come January 30, the payment of your TV plan will be combined with the payment of your Home Internet plan.
