Fizz TV BETA test period terms and conditions

Fizz is currently in a BETA test period for its TV service Fizz TV, in certain Quebec regions.

An eligible Fizz member who activates a TV plan in an eligible region during this test period accepts being a BETA-tester.

The conditions, implications and full details of this test period and the associated BETA price privilege can be found here, in this FAQ. Offers, services and rates are subject to change without notice, to the extent permitted by law.

Visit this section of our website for all the details on our TV service. You can subscribe there, or directly here, or directly in your account at Fizz.ca > My plans > Add a TV plan.

  1. Eligibility to the BETA

    Be a Fizz Internet member.

Only our members with an active Home Internet plan have access to our TV service.

Good to know: Fizz TV is an IPTV-based live TV service, which means that the content of selected channels is delivered to your home via your Internet connection. The speed of your Home Internet plan will therefore have an impact on the quality of your TV service. The minimum recommended speed is 30 Mbps.
How to activate a Home Internet plan

    Reside in an eligible region.

Your home address will be validated as you subscribe and that is what will determine whether you reside in an eligible region, or not, to activate a TV plan and as such participate in the BETA. Any new TV plan associated with an address in an eligible region and activated during the test period will automatically enjoy a BETA price privilege.

    Have a compatible device.

Once subscribed, the BETA-tester must download the Fizz TV app to access their content on a compatible device. The app is offered on Google Play, the App Store and Amazon Fire TV. It is also possible to download it directly on a compatible Smart TV.

  1. BETA price privilege

The BETA price privilege, offered in recognition of any potential glitches that may affect and/or limit services, is a preferential price for your TV plan and will be displayed when subscribing and selecting your TV plan.

This BETA price privilege will be valid every month during the test period, starting on the date your TV plan is activated. You must activate your TV plan during the test period, otherwise your plan will not be eligible for the BETA price privilege.

You may unsubscribe at any time.

If Fizz TV is not for you, you may simply unsubscribe. You will be refunded for the number of days left in your payment cycle. To unsubscribe from your TV plan, go under My plans > Manage plan > Unsubscribe and follow the on-screen steps.

  1. BETA implications

A BETA is a period during which users test a new service. So, by agreeing to use our TV service during our test period, you become a BETA tester, and you understand and accept that the services offered are limited and/or affected.  No refund, partial or whole, will be offered in respect of such glitches. If you are dissatisfied with the TV service, your only recourse is to unsubscribe, and we will give you a prorated refund based on the number of days left in your payment cycle.

    Features not offered.

Due to BETA limitations, the following features are NOT offered:

    • Availability of the Fizz TV app on LG, Samsung smart televisions and Roku platform.

    • Ability to record, whether on a terminal or on the cloud.

    • Video and content on demand (VOD).

    • Parental control.

    • Changing your plan. If you wish to change your plan and/or your channels, you must unsubscribe from your plan, and resubscribe with your new choices.

    • Moving your TV plan. If you move, you must unsubscribe and then resubscribe to the TV service once your Home Internet plan is active at your new address.

    • Reactivating your TV plan. You must resubscribe from scratch.

There may also be a few typos left to correct in the app, as well as channel content waiting to be updated (i.e. access to all episodes).

    Occasional glitches

The BETA test period is, by its nature, a temporary test period for a service that has not yet achieved optimal performance. As such, you might experience glitches that will affect and/or limit your TV service such as problems, limitations or disruptions with the performance, availability, coverage, use, security or functionality of the TV service. We are not liable for any damages related to the occurrence of such glitches during the BETA period, including indirect, special or punitive damages and loss of income or gains.

    Surveys and comments

At Fizz, we love (short) surveys, especially during a test period like this one. While they are optional, your comments and feedback will help us identify and fix potential issues with our TV service. You also have the opportunity to send us your impressions throughout the test period:

    • Contact us using the messaging function of the Fizz TV app.

    • Some pages on our website have a toggle on the right-hand side to collect your impressions.

Good to know: Your input will be our sole intellectual property and we can use it to improve our services, without any obligation on our part.

    Technical support.

All instructions to enjoy your TV plan are detailed in this section. If you’re stuck, use the Fizz TV in-app chat (Settings > Help > Customer Service team) to reach our Customer Service team available between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

  1. End of the test period

Important: When the test period ends, your plan will automatically switch to its current price.

The end date of the test period for Fizz TV is at Fizz's discretion. You will be notified of the end of the test period and the new price of your plan by email at least sixty (60) days in advance. If you do not wish to automatically switch to the regular Fizz TV service at the end of the test period, you may modify or cancel your subscription before the end of the test period. All relevant information will be included in the email notification.

Good to know: The TV service may undergo significant changes during the BETA test period, and the final version of the TV service we offer may be different.
